POLYVINYL ALCOHOL

POLYVINYL ALCOHOL

Polyvinyl alcohols have many characteristics which make them useful in a wide range of applications. By choosing among various polyvinyl alcohol grades available, it is possible to obtain the performance required for your specific applications, such as water solubility, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, adhesive and bonding properties, grease or oil resistance and film forming qualities. Therefore polyvinyl alcohols can be widely used in paper coating, textile sizing, water-based adhesives, dry-mix mortars and so on.

Polyvinyl alcohols also have outstanding gas barrier properties and keep oxygen out and safeguard quality, making it especially suitable for food, medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, agricultural and industrial packaging applications.

In addition, Polyvinyl alcohols show the property of Protective colloid. So it can be applied to produce polymer emulsions and polymer resins, such as polyvinyl acetate emulsions, PVC resins. Polyvinyl alcohols with a very low degree of hydrolysis are excellent primary suspending agents in vinyl chloride suspension polymerization.

Polyvinyl alcohols are main raw materials of Polyvinyl butyrals. The latter are suitable for a wide range of applications, films for laminated safety glass, paints, varnishes, coatings etc. included.

We can meet most of your requirements – from low to high viscosity, partially to fully saponified..

Our polyvinyl alcohol powders are similar to granules grades, but have a fine particle size so that 99+% of the product will pass through a 120-mesh screen. These grades are available commercially as 088-20,088-50 polyvinyl alcohols. Due to their fine particle size, powders grades have a tendency to agglomerate and form soft compression lumps during storage. These soft compression lumps will usually break apart upon further processing, such as dry blending with inorganics like calcium carbonate, gypsum and cement.
